Calling all Marr Mac Alumni! Marr Mac Dance presents "Legends & Tributes" 2022 Year End Show at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on Sunday, June 12th 2022. This year one of the legends being celebrated, is Deane Marr, Marr Mac’s founder, and they will be starting off the show by remembering Deane with speeches, a slideshow, and a Tribute Dance. The theme for this year’s show is ‘Legends and Tributes’. So, grab some tickets and come along, you will hear a wonderful variety of music genres as we pay respect to Legends in our lives through dance.
The opportunity to perform in a recital is an exciting, empowering and confidence-building part of the training process. This is the point at which young dancers learn about the theater, rehearsals and teamwork, while they enjoy the opportunity to showcase their skills in a professionally run production. Recitals are a wonderful way for students to showcase the results of their hard work and for family and friends to join in the pride of their achievement.
At the conclusion of the Year End Show, all participants will be invited on to the stage for a brief awards presentation. Typically, presenting one award per discipline, and sometimes a special award or two! The dancers chosen are usually level 3 and up, however in the case of smaller disciplines any level of dancer
qualifies.
Founded in 1968 by Deane Marr and her mother Jaqueline Macdonald, Marr-Mac Dance began as a dance school and daycare center. By now, it has evolved into a studio which can offer both the recreational and competitive dancer equal quality training, giving dancers the opportunity to pursue careers in their art or become instructors themselves. Deane Marr retired in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of the love of dance and the people it touches. Her leadership at the studio has filtered through to the instructors and is demonstrated by the care and attention given to each and every dancer. Deane passed away April 15, 2020.
