Star Wars became one of the most iconic films in history and started a giant film franchise. Moreover, the film became the most influential and biggest pop culture phenomenon. The band has heavily expanded into merchandise, toys, comic books, video games, and amusement park attractions. The story first came to Lucas in 1971, and several years later, filming began with an 11 million dollar budget. After Star Wars premiered, the film grossed over 700 million dollars, making it one of the biggest commercial successes of the time.
Star Wars also featured a remarkable cast comprising Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, and Alec Guinness. The show had one of the most advanced visual effects at the time. Lucas purposely started a visual effects company to ensure that the film would be a success.
Apart from exemplary visual effects and casting, the film has one of the most epic scores in history. The score, written by Oscar Award-winning composer John Williams, perfectly complemented the film’s visual presentation of the foreign worlds. The Man Title Theme became one of the most famous film soundtracks of all time. John William’s work for the film won numerous accolades, including three Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for Best Original Score, and a Saturn Award for Best Music.
The FILMharmonic Orchestra is Canada’s newest premier film music ensemble. The orchestra was founded by Denis Chabot in 2015. Since then, they have performed numerous sold-out film concerts, such as The Godfather, Gladiator, Titanic, Amadenus, Harry Potter, and plenty more.
