All around the world, music lovers and socially conscious critics were drawn in by Johnny Cash’s first live album, “At Folsom Prison.”

Watch musicians pay tribute to the rockabilly rebel in Folsom Prison Revisited - Tribute To Johnny Cash at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium on 26th October 2023.

“It has been in the works for a couple of years now, and it was hoped to become a project during COVID, but for obvious reasons, it was postponed a handful of times,” explained Devon Brayne, storyteller and performer in the show. “We’ve been working on getting it ready for Festival Place for about six months.”

Johnny Cash is truly one of the best-selling musicians of all time, having sold more than 90 million records worldwide. Among his extensive discography of over 70 albums, one of Cash's best works was recording a live concert at California's Folsom State Prison.

The live recording of his iconic song "Folsom Prison Blues" from the album caught listeners' attention and instantly became a Top 40 hit, with the album peaking at No. 1 on both the country and pop charts. Over the years, the album has seen re-releases with additional tracks and special features, earning it a triple platinum certification and further bolstering Cash's career.

In addition, Cash also released other prison concert albums such as “At San Quentin,” and “A Concert Behind Prison Walls.” Still, the Folsom Prison performance turned out to be the most influential of them all. It was later featured in the 2005 biopic Walk the Line, highlighting its significant role in Cash's life.

Now, Folsom Prison Revisited retells the story behind this performance through a two-part live show. Showcasing a talented group of award-winning musicians and a multimedia presentation, be prepared to hear classic hits such as "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Still Miss Someone," and "Jackson," in addition to rarely played songs such as "25 Minutes to Go" and the ever emotional "Greystone Chapel," which was interestingly composed by an inmate in Folsom Prison.

Situated in Edmonton, Alberta, The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is a 4-million-square-foot performing arts, cultural, and community center known for hosting the best concert shows in the country.
