The birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, Gujarat, is the home state of Gujarati culture. It is situated in the western part of India and is the fifth-largest state in the country. The land is to be rich in handicrafts like Patola weaving, bandhani, khadi, embroidery, block printing, namda, matani, rogan painting, matani pachhedi, metal crafts, wood crafts, pithora, and many more. Gujarat is also filled with joyful people who celebrate regional fairs and festivals as part of their tradition.
For this year’s celebration of the Gujarati Culture Festival, Alberta Gujarati Association has taken charge of organizing the event. The Gujarati Culture Festival is not an annual event, it takes place every four years, and the location rotates between Alberta, Calgary, and Vancouver. The mission of the Gujarati Cultural Festival is to bridge the gap between cultures and communities through a wide range of events. They believe that by increasing engagement and education of Gujarati heritage through art, poetry, dance, music, and linguistics, we can forge new relationships and celebrate our rich culture together.
