On the 17th of September the show, Gene Zwozdesky: The Man & His Music, will be a tribute to him and his vast passion for music as well as all proceeds from the show supporting the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood and CapitalCare Foundation's Stepping Up for Norwood campaign, a great cause to his heart. At the age of 70 Eugene Zwozdesky died in 2019 and has left a void in the political and music world of Canada. Ensure you do not miss out and experience the magical allure of some of Zwozdesky’s greatest, and most loved, music by booking your tickets now.
From childhood Zwozdesky had a great zeal for life and making people feel valued and comfortable at the same time. At the age of 15 Orest Semchuk and he met at high school and the two adolescents bonded over their shared heritage and became dancers in the dance company Shumka, which turned into a lifelong involvement with the dance company. Semchuk became a choreography teacher, then artistic director, and Zwozdesky became the musical director. In over 25 years Zwozdesky helped compose and direct hundreds of pieces of music for Shumka. Just one of the many roles he had in his life.
Zwozdesky has had a profound effect on the music industry in Alberta, as well as on the political scene, from producing music with rock star Barry Allen, to his role as executive director of the Alberta Cultural Heritage Foundation. His attitude towards the arts and bringing people together in harmony has left a permanent mark on Alberta.
It is only fitting then that the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium will be holding this special concert and bringing the legacy of Zwozdesky and the music he loved to life. Performed by talented musicians it will be a joy to be immersed in the life of a person who contributed so much. So, spend the afternoon being swooned by the music and the man that left a great legacy behind with Gene Zwozdesky: The Man & His Music, as well as support the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood and CapitalCare Foundation's Stepping Up for Norwood campaign, on the 17th of September at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and secure your tickets now!
