Broadway is the birthplace of an additional iconic musical, The Lion King, as it increases its global reach with another limited production to be held on Friday 11th July 2025 in Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, found in Edmonton, Alberta. With awesome decorations and acoustics seen all over the aforementioned location, theatergoers have said that Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium still is one of their {favorite|top|favored show theater venues all over the world.

The Lion King narrates the tale of growth of a young lion cub called Simba, who is the only successor to become the King of the Pride Lands following his father. The African territory however is no stranger to political machinations, as even in this pure and childlike musical, tragedy strikes when the young lion's father and King is killed as a result of the betrayal of his estranged uncle Scar, who harbors a secret hatred for the King of these lands. The fledgling cub chooses to escape the Pride Lands and goes into exile for much of his early childhood. In his time away, he meets new companions, Timon and Pumbaa, who encourage him to forget his past and live life on his own terms. His relaxed demeanor then turns upside down when he once again chances upon his childhood companion Nala, who reveals the tyranny of Scar to him and asks him to retake his rightful place as king.

This complicated plot of heartbreak, true friendship, and fearless leadership is intensified by the familiar classic songs, penned by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original songs, supplemented with more compositions and lyrics from other composers such as Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have improved and elevated the quality of the musical not just in local performances, but also in international productions.

The Lion King debuted on July 8, 1997, at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The musical took the theater world by storm and set a standard for contemporary theater, ushering in its shift and beginnings in Broadway, New York on October 15, 1997. Now produced for more than two decades since its first showing, it's now your chance to see the third longest-running production from Broadway, New York as it arrives in Alberta.
