There's no question that the story of The Lion King is one that resonates with people in a number of different ways. Sure, the film was aimed at kids, but it's a sad story to say the least. It takes a prodigal son style of narrative that has kept folks in theaters at the edge of their seats as they watch the story unfold since 1997. These are mostly people who already know the story! It's amazing to think that the Lion King continues to pack shows on Broadway and across the world even though most people know how the story is going to end. That's exactly what's going to happen in Edmonton, Alberta on Thursday 17th July 2025.
One of the things that keeps people coming back to this show are the tracks. It's a well-rounded soundtrack with songs about life, loss, and of course, Hakuna Matata. The current cast provides incredible renditions of these anthems that people love. At the same time, the songs helps move the story along in this musical version in a way that keeps people engaged. You may be waiting for your favorite song to come up the entire show, and those 4 minutes or so could end up being the most memorable part of the performance.
